Finding friends for isolated people is a key Neighbourcare activity.

If you would like a Neighbourcare friend to visit or phone you, please contact our co-ordinator on 0207 586 5153.

You can also phone us if you want to refer somebody else or you can complete our referral form. (click here)

Neighbourcare friends are mainly there to provide company. Of course, they will do what they can to help in a crisis and they will try to go on seeing you if you are in a local hospital or move to a local care home. However they do not replace paid careworkers.

We are also happy to consider requests for help with things like sorting papers or taking you out for a walk, particularly if we think that you and the volunteer will become friends as a result.

We hope that you will see quite a lot of your new friend, so we try to make sure he or she will be somebody you get on with.

To have a Neighbourcare friend, you should normally live in or close to St John’s Wood or Maida Vale.  You do not have to live in Westminster.

If we agree you should have one of our friends but can’t find somebody immediately, we will put you on our waiting list.

If you would also like to come on our minibus outings, please go to the outings page and complete our questionnaire.
